I had this bookmarked to actually sit with, and now I'm annoyed at myself for not reading it before my last post went out. I was just DEEP in the editing loop you described ... fixing one thing and breaking a million others. Loosing my arc, finding it again. It was a real saga this time.
The artifact is such a generous thing of you to share (as always). I can't wait to try a build my own version of this tool. I know i always say it, but its so cool how we're all building off of each other.
You may have even inspired me to get my next substack draft done EARLY this time, simply because i'm so curious to test it out!

1) Did we know this? I did psychology as my main major, but I also did linguistics when I found a business-related second major very boring. And I’m indignant over that Facebook group. ::fist shake!!::
2) I will still occasionally say, Here’s the thing. And then I’m like I should change that, and then I don’t because omg there are only so many spoons I have to give…
3) I love your writing. I haven’t noticed your duplications, but I do it, too.
4) I really appreciated seeing Claude saying — don’t make me do the thing I’m bad at. I don’t know why but those little frictions really tickle my brain, that human-AI interaction and how we work with what each other can do.

1. No, I don't think we do?! Hooray for sharing Linguistics!! I honestly thought I had found my people, it was pure joy discovering that group until I made the single sentence comment and the piranhas came 😅🤦🏻♀️
2. You can say it! Just say it once in a post, not a version of it in every single paragraph or I'll personally be following up for that contribution to my Bora Bora fund 😂
3. Thank you! That means the hours I have spent editing over the weeks have been of some use, lol. I even go back after publishing and make tweaks because something always got missed...

1. I'm so sad about that!! So I studied Linguistics at the University of Arizona. I remember them saying that there were basically two flavors of Linguistics in the US - Berkeley (shaped by the social) vs. MIT (innate biology). I think UA was more on the Berkeley side. I know that was the flavor of Linguistics I enjoyed more. Anyway, maybe your group was more on the MIT side boo. 😅

Okay I'll strop responding to every piece. Basically I really loved the post, the app looks amazing, and I can't wait to see what you share with us next!
Haha thanks Alyssa! I studied under lecturers who were very much in Field Linguistics - they literally spent half the year researching and transcribing endangered languages, and then created assignments out of them in the second half of the year for us! It was INCREDIBLE - so very core general linguistics, not so much social/discourse analysis. I did some post-grad too at a uni that researched natural semantic metalanguage... oooofff.
That is AMAZING!! Okay I want to go to your university. I actually don’t remember much any more from the classes. I remember X-rays of tongues moving. That was pretty cool. And these gravity fields representing the vowel space and how as you (babies, children) get more input it creates these pits where sounds that don’t exist in the given language slide into that pit and that’s what speakers will hear. I thought that was such a cool idea.
And then otherwise anything interaction related I learned through cultural psychology.
I wish I could just learn all the things all the time haha. How cool would it be to be able to take some classes together on …anything really.
I think I could call you my NZ twin, we think about the same things, the difference is you build them and I ignore them 😅. This is so funny! I go back to my articles and see repetitions and fix them after they are posted, I also go back to my notes as well! I'm eager to try your prompt Dallas, thank you for taking time to build it for us!

I now have a couple more editing gate checks added that I want to keep an eye on - if you add more complex things, it can lack some of the context you have developed in your editing conversation but I still find it super useful to take findings back and say "hey, is this valid or has it been addressed?" I just love feeling more involved and being able to say "Claude, let's deal with the grey section in the middle where the heatmap goes cold" rather than just hoping it's been adequately sorted out.
